Police Respond To 6 Vehicle Break-In Calls In 24-Hour Period

OAK CREEK, WI — Police are investigating a rash of vehicle break-ins this month, including responding to six such calls in about a 24-hour span over May 20-21. Here are the calls Oak Creek police fielded and responded to:

Police in Oak Creek are saying that they took the following burglary calls on May 21:

6:27 a.m. 8800 block of S. Sixth Ave.: A resident called police, saying that someone opened their garage and entered multiple vehicles. The resident called police, saying she parked her vehicle in her driveway just after 7:30 p.m. the night before and did not lock her doors, call logs state. The resident told police the suspect used the garage door opener to open the garage and rummage inside. It did not appear that anything was taken, according to call logs.

3:55 a.m. 8400 block of S. Palomino Drive: A 911 caller told authorities that they witnessed multiple suspects going through vehicles on the 8400 block of S. Palomino Drive. The witness said four vehicles were parked in the driveway and that the two that were parked closest to the garage door were unlocked and subsequently rummaged through, though no items were damaged or taken. Officers checked for vehicles and suspects in the area to no avail.

9:17 p.m. 1400 block of E. Parkside Drive: According to police logs, a gym bag full of clothes, and a key fob for work were stolen out of an unlocked vehicle on the 1400 block of E. Parkside Drive sometime between 1 p.m. on May 19 and 7 p.m. on May 20.

Police in Oak Creek responded to the following vehicle burglary calls on May 20:

12:10 a.m., 8300 block of S. Verdev Drive: A 911 caller told police that two vehicles were rummaged through in his driveway. At some point between 10:20 p.m. and midnight, a suspect entered both vehicles which were unlocked. Officers checked the area and could not locate anyone.

1:19 a.m., 10700 block of S. Richard Road: A person called police, saying that two suspects in a dark-colored Nissan hatchback following the break-in. According to police call logs, the vehicles were unlocked and rummaged through.

A resident on S. Nicholson Road also called police, saying someone rummaged through multiple unlocked vehicles:

Police said the resident contacted police, saying that sometime between 4 p.m. on May 19 and noon on May 20, a suspect entered multiple unlocked vehicles. Police advised the person who called police to lock their vehicle doors overnight.
