Police Video Shows Man Punching Female Oak Creek Officer

OAK CREEK, WI — This week, Oak Creek Patch broke the story about a 40-year-old Milwaukee man who was arrested and charged after police say he punched a female Oak Creek police officer, before being chased down by the department's police dog in a city park.

Terry Young, 40, of Milwaukee, was been charged with resisting an officer—causing injury, battery to a law enforcement officer and bail jumping. If he is convicted, Young faces up to 9 years behind bars.

Traffic Stop

Oak Creek police conducted a traffic stop on the 1200 block of E. Drexel Ave. on the night of Nov. 6 after a driver was reportedly speeding in the area.
According to Oak Creek police reports, while on-scene, the officer who conducted the traffic stop requested the driver, later identified as Young to exit the vehicle due to an odor of marijuana coming from it.

Reports stated that Young refused to exit his car more than once. According to a criminal complaint filed in Milwaukee County, the officer suspected that Young was getting ready to flee the scene, so the officer unlocked his door from the inside and opened it, only to have Young re-start his vehicle and throw it into drive. The officer managed to take the vehicle out of gear and turn it off.

According to the criminal complaint, it took multiple officers to remove Young from the vehicle, and pin him to the ground. The complaint states that Young immediately got up, and began holding his arms like a boxer and started "swinging his arms wildly." As Young swung his right arm, he struck the female officer with his forearm, connecting with the left side of her face just under her cheekbone, causing pain and knocking her backward.

Fleeing the Scene

The complaint stated that Young fled on foot toward Abendschein Park, crouching into a ball in an effort to hide under a tree. Oak Creek police deployed K9 officer Nox. After a short time, Nox apprehended Young, and in the process causing a bite on Young's stomach.

According to the complaint, Young told police that he thought "maybe the dog
would not find him if he did not say anything and laid still."

According to court documents, Young was out on bond awaiting sentencing in three Milwaukee County criminal cases. He had been charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, bail jumping, and possession of narcotics.
