The Polonaise Kitchen Boss Takes Home Soup-er Prize
Chefs from senior communities around Milwaukee to compete for first prize in heart healthy competition.

February 6, 2015 (CUDAHY, WI)—Chefs from Milwaukee area senior communities gathered at the Kelly Senior Center to take part in its Soup-er Bowl Cook-Off. Following February’s heart health theme, chefs from Villa St. Francis, Heritage Senior Living, Wilson Commons and Meadowmere were asked to create a healthy soup or stew.
Thirty-five members of the community were in attendance to judge these delicious, nutritious soups and stews. All chefs put forth wonderful effort in creating these dishes, but there could only be one winner.
Wilson Commons’ own Tracy “Kitchen Boss” Voss took home first prize for her famous Creamy Potato Soup. “I chose to make one of our residents’ favorites—and one of my specialties,” says Voss. “I use Salt-Free 17 Seasoning for all my soups and use a cream soup base to omit the use of heavy cream. This was the second time entering this contest and I had fun competing against other chefs from the senior living community.”

Voss has worked at The Prelude, the restaurant at Wilson Commons’ assisted living community Polonaise, for a year and a half. She always keeps residents in mind when creating healthy and delicious lunches and dinners. Residents at the Chopin, the independent living community at Wilson Commons, even take advantage of her delightful cooking by ordering lunch or dinner from The Prelude. Voss says, “I’m really happy I took home first place and I’m excited to share the award with my building and residents!”
Judging participants were given recipes from each chef to bring home. There’s no doubt everyone’s winter will be a little warmer with delicious soup and stew recipes from these talented chefs.
