Election Results
Unofficial Spring 2017 election results are in for the City of Oak Creek, and two contested races have been decided.
When it came to the two seats which were open on the Oak Creek-Franklin joint school board, Oak Creek chose incumbents Amy Mlot and Mark Verhalen. They were facing challengers Juli Murphy and Sean Kingston. Oak Creek's vote totals will be combined with Franklin's vote totals during the official board of canvass to determine the final vote total and the winner.
Challenger Richard J. Duchniak, a veteran leader of the Oak Creek Community Center, defeated incumbent Mark Verhalen in Oak Creek's 3rd Aldermanic District.
Steven Kurkowski, who ran unopposed in the city's 1st Aldermanic District, and Kenneth Gehl, who ran unopposed in the 5th, retain their seats.
Oak Creek also was like-minded when it came to the proposed Milwaukee County $60 wheel tax referendum question. A majority of voters didn't like it one bit - and soundly defeated the measure.
