According to reports, the male half of the couple snuck past poll workers and went to vote at the ballot window, but was told he could not vote until proof was shown. That's when the man became upset, rolled up his ballot and threw it. During that time, the poll worker reported that the irate voter said he was going to "shut down the poll workers."

The poll worker told police that the upset couple left the polling place. According to police reports, officers made contact with Donald and Keri Gerbing of Drexel Ave. at their home later that day. Police said that the couple was allowed back to the church to vote, but that hey needed the proper paperwork showing an updated address.
