Woman Goes Into Labor As She's Caught Stealing Groceries: Report

Police in Oak Creek say a 40-year-old woman at the local Woodman's was caught stealing groceries - and then she went into labor.

OAK CREEK, WI — Police in Oak Creek say a pregnant woman three days from her due date went into labor as she was caught stealing groceries at Woodman's.

According to Oak Creek Police call logs, the woman was at Woodman's on Aug. 2 and tried to leave the store with $255 in groceries without paying for them.

Police said the woman, 40, was confronted by store security and taken into custody, but had to be escorted to the women's bathroom because she began to go into labor.

According to police, by the time officers arrived at Woodman's, officers were informed that she was already in delivery.

Police said the woman was transported to the hospital where the delivery of her child was completed. Police said an officer followed the rescue squad to the hospital, and later mailed her a citation for retail theft.
