Woman Lectured In Political Sign-Stealing Incident: Report

According to Oak Creek police, a man's political yard sign on Deerpath was stolen - and the resident knew who did it.

OAK CREEK, WI — Spring elections are coming up on Tuesday, April 3, and things are reportedly getting testy for a resident on Deerpath Drive after a yard sign-stealing incident.

According to police reports, a resident on the 9800 block of Deerpath Drive walked into the police department to report that he had a school board campaign yard sign stole out of his front yard. He was alerted to this after he received an anonymous call from someone stating that they saw a person take it.

According to reports, police told the resident to contact the sign thief in order to get it back. Police told the resident if she didn't give it back, he would report her to police.

Reports indicated the resident made contact with the sign-thief, who admitted she took the sign and said she was under the impression the sign-poster did not have permission to place the sign on his property.

Police verified that the resident was able to get his sign back, and told the woman that she should not be taking people's signs that don't belong to her.
