50 Plus Families Join City-Wide Rummage

Port Washington resident inspired by Saukville event to create similar rummage sale in city.

If you're on the hunt for a good bargain, you may want to hold off until June 1 — when residents in Port Washington will participate in the first city-wide rummage sale.

More than 50 families have signed up to participate in the event, which will last from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., according to organizer Chris Asplin.

Asplin said she was inspired to create the city-wide rummage sale based on a similar event held in Saukville in September.

"I often wondered why Port never had anything," she said. "I just tried to find what I thought would be a good weekend to have (it). For June 1, that's like the fist day that there wasn't anything going on (as far as other festivals and events)."

Asplin contacted the Port Washington Historical Society for help with the event, mimicking the operations of the village-wide rummage sale in Saukville. For more information, call 262-268-9150 or Asplin at 262-893-6062.

Anyone interested in participating must register by May 25 to be included on the map.
