The greatest lesson I learned was by watching my dad share his time with me and my 3 siblings. He worked 2nd and 3rd shifts so he could be there for us when we came home from school. He gave up his time to teach us baseball and about the outdoors. This trait is the one I most try to duplicate with my own kids. Be there for them even when it is not easy to do so.
