8-Legged Creatures: Bothersome Yet Beautiful?

Spiders seem to be out in full-force this time of year.

Seems like it is always mid- to late summer when the spiders start showing up everywhere, and busy at work. I found this one in Port hiding in the corner of a building setting up its web.

Do they bother you? I am not a big fan, but find them interesting to watch.

Does anyone know what type of spider this is?
