Replacement Refs: A Lesson in Teamwork
A lesson in teamwork to the replacement refs from Shop Port, Think Local.

On the heels of Monday night's devastating Packers loss, I’d like to take a moment to talk a little bit about something that was sorely lacking: teamwork. Much has been said about the replacement referees, and I’m not going to get into it, but to me it appears that they weren’t working together as a team. When you see two officials in the same area make two different signals it’s a bit confusing and you wonder how that happens.
Seeing something like this makes me thankful for the amazing team I work with. Everyone involved in is someone I can count on. My e-mails or phone calls are returned promptly and everyone is beyond courteous. We all work together like a well-oiled machine. When you get all of us in one room (which can admittedly be difficult with all of our busy schedules) the ideas flow and there is always a positive discussion.
What is the reason for this? I believe it is because we all have a common goal: to promote shopping local. We all want to see each other’s’ businesses flourish and continue to grow. We’ve all established ourselves in the Port Washington community and have no intention of leaving anytime soon. We run promotions between businesses (such as spend $100 at Sentry and receive a $10 Beanie’s gift certificate, which ends today!).

Shop Port, Think Local is a powerhouse team looking to continue to serve the Port Washington area with amazing local products and personalized service. We consult each business before we throw up our signals so there is a consensus about our decisions. Look for a group event, the yearly Oktober Tasting, at Sentry on October 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. and see our local "referees" in action!
