Cramer Coil Hopes to Expand Manufacturing

Cramer Coil and Transformer Company is looking to expand its facilities with a planned purchase of 4.177 acres of land in the Saukville’s business park.

Cramer Coil — a manufacturer of high frequency magnetic products used in industrial, communications and medical markets — submitted a request to the village to purchase the four acres of vacant land adjacent to the company’s current facility.  Additionally, the land would need to be rezoned for general manufacturing rather than it’s current zoning as business park.

Both requests were approved by Saukville's Plan Commission earlier this month.

"It was not a hard decision to recommend the changes," said Brian Biernat, director of planning and development.

Biernat said that the rezoning especially makes sense because the parcel of land Cramer Coil is hoping to purchase is abutted by the manufacturing portion of the business park.  

Cramer Coil plans to expand their facilities northward as the first phase of expansion.  The majority of the four acres would be used in the future, Biernat said.

David Mayer, controller at Cramer Coil, said that the plans are not certain just yet, and that "nothing is settled on." 

The addition would expand manufacturing portion of the company, he said, but he  was unable to say if the expansion would add any jobs.

With the approval of the plan commission, the purchase of adjoining property and rezoning of the area, the village will hold a public hearing on April 6 before making a final decision.
