Event Reminds People to "Click It"
Port Washington High School parent group, city officials and administration put extra attention on the safety of wearing your seat belt.

The Port Washington Pirate Parent group as well as other city officials and administration would like to remind the community about the importance of buckling up, with a special event for high school students on Friday.
Parents, teachers and local law enforcement will be pitching in for the Seat Belt Awareness event at 2:15 p.m. in the parking lots, Tami Wojciehowski, president of the parent group, said in an e-mail. All students will recieve a giant gummy lifesaver candy, saying, "seatbelts, a real lifesaver."
Students "caught" wearing their seatbelts on Fridays for several weeks now were rewarded with gas cards, Wojciehowski said. The reminder comes just in time for students getting ready to celebrate a popular annual dance.

"With Saturday being the prom, and with a history of tragic deaths related to traffic accidents in our community, the parent group, administration, staff and local law enforcement want to remind the students (and) community to wear a seat belt," Wojciehowski said.
