Father/Son Team Make Beautiful Music at Memories
Father/Son Team of Rolland and Christopher Roebuck Co-Direct "Some Enchanted Evening"- a Musical Story with Hits of Rodgers and Hammerstein
PORT WASHINGTON, WI. Last Sunday, while fathers and their children across the country gathered outdoors around their grills, Rolland Roebuck and his son, Christopher, celebrated Father’s Day uniquely, gathered around a piano in a rustic dinner theater, collaborating on a musical production called “Some Enchanted Evening,” in which Rolland is the show’s director and Christopher its musical director.
Rolland is an owner at Memories Dinner Theater in Port Washington, where “Some Enchanted Evening” is being performed. He’s been the driving force behind the Dinner Theater at Memories for its entire 25 seasons.
Christopher is an elementary music teacher who recently helped open a school in Chicago for GEMS International School System. He transferred there after a three-year stint with GEMS in Abu Dhabi, where he taught music.

A trained opera singer from Lawrence University, Christopher’s Abu Dhabi experiences also found him winning a talent show and singing back-up for the Rolling Stones and Placido Domingo’s protégé, Andrea Bocelli, in front of 200,000 people. He’s now studying voice under Bocelli in Chicago.
This is the father/son team’s third joint production at Memories. “Some Enchanted Evening” is a musical story based on the most popular tunes by Rodgers & Hammerstein. Its music is beautiful but difficult, which makes for an exciting challenge for father and son alike.

Christopher says the pair is a great team because, “We share our mutual passion for the theater, but are able to trust in each other’s expertise in different areas. Dad’s being the stage, and mine the music.”
As Rolland puts it, they “work well together for the love of music, the love of performing, and the love for each other.”
“Some Enchanted Evening” plays Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons July 7-22, 2015. Most performances are matinees with one evening performance Tuesday, July 21.
