Families interested in connecting with other adoptive families or families considering adoption are invited to attend Adoption Connection at 5 p.m. June 22, at Friedens Church, located at 454 North Milwaukee Street in Port Washington.
Adoption Connection is a unique opportunity for people who would like to share, learn, and connect about adoption. The event will include families, adoption counselors, agency representatives and other experts in the adoptive field who will share their experiences and answer questions. The evening also will include a family-style dinner. Following dinner, supervised playtime/childcare will be available to assist parents and adults participating in connecting and sharing.
This is the fourth year that Friedens has hosted Adoption Connection through its Forever Families ministry. The other major adoption-related event sponsored by the Friedens ministry is its annual Super Saturday event which raises funds to help families adopt children here in the United States and in other countries and to assist overseas orphanages. The event has so far raised more than $40,000 to support adoption and orphans world-wide. This year’s fifth annual Forever Families event will be held September 20 and will include the annual Forever Families 5K Walk/Run, Silent Auction, and bakes sale.
The Forever Families ministry at Friedens, an affiliate of the Evangelical Free Church of America, is built on a 40-year heritage of adoption at Friedens, in which nearly a third of its church family, including its last three pastors, has been touched by adoption.
Adoption Connection is open to anyone who is interested in adopting, in the adoption process, or have children who came into their family through adoption. For more information or to RSVP, call Friedens Church at 262-284-2471, send an e-mail to Friedens@sbcglobal.net or go online at www.friedenschurch.org.
