PWCBI Acquires Building for Studio
PORT WASHINGTON, Wisconsin (July 1, 2013) – Port Washington Community Broadcasting, Inc., the local non-profit group working to re-establish local FM radio in Port Washington and Saukville has leased a building that will serve as a downtown studio location.
The building is approximately 600 square feet and located at 127 E. Washington in downtown Port Washington. It was a former tattoo shop, and in very early Port Washington history, was a site of a railway shipping company.
“This building is a big step in the right direction for PWCBI,” said Bill Lundgren, President of the group. “It’s pretty much entirely open space and a blank slate on the inside, giving us the flexibility to create the exact design for studio space we require.”
With the building, PWCBI plans to create on-air and production studio space, as well as a large room in the rear of the building to be used for both producing live bands on the air, and possibly as a small, basic recording studio.
The rent for the building will be paid by a donor to the group for the foreseeable future.
Work will begin immediately to plan the work required to convert the space. Donations of time, materials, and of course volunteer labor will be welcome.
