1. Sheboygan judge denies case audio over AI manipulation worries (minnlawyer.com) — A Sheboygan County judge has refused to release audio from an August hearing where residents challenged how the city handled petition gathering outside City Hall, citing fears his voice could be manipulated with AI. The petitioners, who used AI to draft filings, say the transcript omits key comments and plan to keep fighting for access to the recording.
2. Fall Leaf Collection Program starts Oct. 12 for City of Sheboygan residents (sheboygansun.com) — Sheboygan residents can start raking leaves into street gutters Oct. 12 as the city's fall collection program runs through Nov. 26, with zones assigned by weekday. Officials still urge you to mulch or bag leaves to reduce flooding risks and remind you that piles contaminated with branches or yard waste won't be collected.
3. Duo Applebee's, IHOP restaurant in Sheboygan no longer in the works (sheboyganpress.com) — Plans for a dual Applebee's and IHOP at 526 S. Taylor Drive in Sheboygan have been dropped, leaving the former Applebee's building without any active prospects. The franchisee has opened similar combo restaurants in other Wisconsin cities, but for now Sheboygan diners will have to look elsewhere while the site remains on the market.
4. Fresh apples and bright pumpkins are offerings at area producers (sheboyganpress.com) — If you're craving fall flavors, local options near Sheboygan include pumpkins at Bulitz and Spieker's farms, plus apples and caramel treats at Pigeon River Orchard right in town. Photo scenes from Kohler, Random Lake, Cleveland, Gibbsville and Sheboygan showcase where you can pick produce, see animals and enjoy seasonal displays this October.
5. Jacquelyn Grunewald (whbl.com) — Howards Grove residents are mourning 79-year-old Jacquelyn K. Grunewald, remembered for her long career at Bemis, devotion to family, and love of her grandchildren's sports. Visitation and funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, at Our Shepherd United Church of Christ in Howards Grove, with Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls assisting the family.
