Thanks, Obamacare...

If HuffPo won't even attempt to spin it into a positive, it must REALLY be bad. Β They do take the same tact NPR did with GDP byΒ suggesting (after touting the health care spending and unemploymentΒ numbers previously when they reflected positively on the Administration) that "we" really shouldn't give such numbers significant weight as indicators of the stateΒ of the economy. Β That, and of course presenting the Administration's current spin in response to the new numbers - predictions of a reversal in the trends they indicate going forward. Β
Even though one would think they'd be more cautious in terms of running with the Administration's lineΒ at the precise time when being they'reΒ forced to recant having done so in this case, they can't really help themselves. Β It's like the person with a perpetually cheating S.O. who keeps clinging to hopes that they'll change. Β They're so invested in Obama, the concept, that they're in constant denial about what's really happening.
Seriously, it's time to stop pretending that in 2008 and 2012Β we, as a nation, elected a person with the experience and ability to right the ship of state. Β We need toΒ admit that the guy we put in the top spot was essentiallyΒ an inexperienced neophyte not ready to assume the office.Β HeΒ was initiallyΒ nominated for cynical reasons (namely his ability to get to the pollsΒ a significantly sizedΒ sector of the Democratic base that was a perennial, virtualΒ no-show) and, ultimately, voted into office primarilyΒ because of what, rather than who, he is.
About the best we can hope for at this point is that somehow, someone figures out a way to curtail his ability to issue one screwed up executive order after another. Β It's our only hope of riding this travesty out in one piece -Β and even that's a long shot.
Let's alsoΒ hope to G-d we don't do the same thing for a similarΒ reason in 2016. Β Our economy is too fragile to continue toΒ put people into the ultimate position of powerΒ based on how they appeal to ourΒ sense of social justice rather than the degree to which theyΒ possess theΒ appropriate experience andΒ qualifications.
