23-Year-Old Man Shot And Killed During His Grandfather's Funeral Procession

MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee's summer of unrest took a bizarre and tragic turn Monday after shots rang out on Milwaukee's North Side, killing a 23-year-old man as he participated in a funeral procession for his own grandfather.

A 22-year-old Milwaukee man and a 24-year-old Milwaukee were also struck by apparent gunfire, and police say they may have suffered non-life threatening injuries. They were transported to a hospital.

The incident took place Monday afternoon on Milwaukee's North Side, just a few blocks northwest of Union Cemetery. Police have the area secured and are conducting their investigation. There has been no information indicating that a suspect is in custody at this time.

Eyewitness reports from the scene indicate multiple shell casings were found on the ground and that tensions were high during the time of the preliminary investigation.
