Affordable Housing Discussion Continues Tuesday In Shorewood
On Tuesday, Shorewood's Community Development Authority will hear an educational presentation about affordable housing in the Village.
SHOREWOOD, WI β The Shorewood Community Development Authority (CDA), a board dedicated to economic improvement of the Village in the long term, will hear a presentation from the Community Development Alliance about the work being done in the Milwaukee area to address affordable housing.
It will be the second presentation on affordable housing that the CDA has heard in the past month, and is part of a series entitled "The Role of Suburbs in Creating a Diverse and Inclusive Region: Spotlight on Housing," according to the Village of Shorewood website.
The presentation on Tuesday will focus on how private and public enterprises can collaborate to address affordable housing in the whole of Milwaukee County. At the first meeting on July 9, the CDA heard about how the cities, towns and villages that make up Milwaukee County can work together to address affordable housing, especially when viewed through the lens of race.

Those TIF funds were created back in March when Village leaders voted to prolong the district, according to a Journal Sentinel report from Eddie Morales. The vote effectively created $2.5 million dollars that can be used for investment in affordable housing.
