On October 9, 2012, Pilot Club of Milwaukee members gathered at the home of one of the Pilots in Wauwatosa to make fleece blankets for children in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) at Children’s Hospital of Milwaukee. When they finished, they had 25 blankets, with more expected from other Pilots who could not attend this gathering.
The EMU at Children’s is the largest epilepsy monitoring unit in the region. Children being cared for in this unit often spend weeks in the hospital being observed. Last year was the first time Pilots made the blankets and heard that the children loved receiving them. Many of the blankets have pictures of friendly kittens and puppies, all the more able to bring comfort and reassurance to the children.
Pilot Club of Milwaukee is the only Pilot Club in Wisconsin. Throughout the world, there are about 400 Pilot Clubs. Pilot International's service focus is brain health.
