Bank Robbery and Chase Results in School Lockdowns in Shorewood, Whitefish Bay
A bank robbery in Shorewood that resulted in a police chase into Whitefish Bay resulted in school lockdowns in both communities.

SHOREWOOD, WI — A bank robbery in Shorewood that resulted in a police chase into Whitefish Bay that resulted in school lockdowns in both communities ended with the arrest of two suspects.
At approximately 10:30am, Shorewood Officers were advised of a reported robbery that had occurred at the TCF Bank located at 4201 N. Oakland Avenue, in the Village of Shorewood.
The suspect vehicle that the officers initiated a traffic stop on proceeded north bound into the village of Whitefish Bay, where the vehicle crashed into a tree at the intersection of N. Santa Monica Boulevard and E. Chateau Place.

Both occupants of the vehicle fled the scene of the crash and with the assistance of both the Whitefish Bay and Glendale Police Departments, both suspects were subsequently taken into custody shortly after they fled. According to Whitefish Bay police, the driver was quickly taken into custody and the other suspect was apprehended with the assistance of the Glendale Police K9 unit
Suspicious Auto

Minutes before the robbery, Shorewood police officers, were dispatched to the area of the 4100 block of N. Bartlett Avenue for a report of a suspicious auto.
A person who called police indicated that two suspicious people were seen circling the block multiple times. A Shorewood Police Officer, who was investigating the suspicious vehicle, noticed a subject running from the area of TCF bank and get into a vehicle, which matched the description of the suspicious auto.
The officer immediately initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. A brief pursuit was initiated that proceeded west bound on E. Olive Street, and north bound on N. Wilson Drive.
Schools on Lockdown
As a precaution, the Shorewood and Whitefish Bay Public Schools were placed on a lock down status until all the suspects were taken into custody and the area was confirmed to be safe and secure. Both suspects that fled are in custody and criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office. The investigation is ongoing and there is no further information available at this time.
