Brian Dey Calls it Obamagate - Oh really?

A response to Brian Dey's article , which challenges it for what it is; political spin and propaganda.

I can always count on certain Right Wing political operatives to step out and do their best to spin a picture of disaster when it is politically expedient. Brian Dey did this in his article titled: "Obamagate: The Reality of What These Four Scandals Mean." In short what it means is that the political right has some more grissle to chew on.

I don’t know whether to compliment him or condemn him for this piece. On the one hand it is well written; but on the other, the content is seriously questionable. He starts out his critique spewing rhetoric about the President and his administration as being parallel to Nixon and his administration followed by charges of this administration as either complacent or incompetent. Yet he fails to argue the complacency or the incompetency issues and argues for criminality. Β

It is a common political tactic to link unrelated issues, gestalting it into something else entirely, and misleading others by an unsupported dialogue. At best he has taken the freedom to wildly speculate calling what has happened as to be criminal. After a lengthy investigation; Nixon and his henchmen were guilty of criminal activity. No such claim can be made, at this time, against Obama and his administration. But, he and others on the political right have indicted, tried and convicted without sufficient evidence, only an extreme political position being their justification for such. Β

Rather than jump the gun, I suggest that we allow the Congress to do their job and investigate the matters at hand. If it requires the appointment of a Special Prosecutor, then that is what should be done.

As far as β€˜Fast & Furious’ is concerned, that is really an exercise in incompetence. A program begun under the previous administration was totally mishandled under this administration. BTW, his reference to β€œheavy weapons” is entirely misleading. Heavy weapons involve such weapons such as .50 caliber M2 machine guns, mortars, grenade launchers, anti-armor, etc. It does not involve smaller caliber weapons and he should correct it as such.

Benghazi was not anything but a mistake and the CIA is up to their backsides in this. After so long, if something substantial was there, then it would have come out already.

The IRS action may have been fully warranted. The conservative groups have been scamming the system by claiming 501(c)(4) status and then abuse the status by indirectly funneling funds into political activities. This is the type of chicanery that sent Tom Delay to jail and Dick Armey should have joined him.

Of the four incidents that he cited; the AP issue is the most troubling of all. I will be following this closely. This could only result with the changes brought about by the Patriot Act. My conclusion is that we have granted too much executive power and we need to rein in such power. This means that congress must step it up and do their constitutional duty.

Brian Dey's whole diatribe will remain nothing more than partisan claptrap until all the facts are in. I don’t think the political right is doing anything more than an attempt to prime the electorate for the mid-term elections and an attempt to damage Hillary Clinton so that she will not run in 2016. Their efforts are all too transparent and we can expect a steady stream of articles like this in the future.
