Build a Team and Help Fight Hunger in Milwaukee

Businesses, organizations, and companies are encouraged to organize a team of 10 or more to help fight hunger in Milwaukee.Β Β A captain's informational meeting will take place May 9, 8:30 AM, at St. Ben's Community Meal, 924 W. State Street.Β Team recruitment tips and tools will be shared plus a continental breakfast with the eventβs emcee, Bill Michaels, the "Big Unit."
This is the 8th year for the Capuchinsβ Run Walk for the Hungry to German Fest.Β Teams will have their team name printed on their T-Shirts if registered by July 8.Β Each team member will receive a discount registration plus entrance into German Fest, a $5 German Fest food and drink gift coupon, and a 2-for-1 return coupon to German Fest.Β
Chips will be used to time and score the 5K run participants. A separate 2 mile walk route through Lakeshore State Park will be timed, but not scored.Β Β Pre-event festivities and award presentations/drawings will take place at the US Cellular
Stage.Β Β Overall trophies and age category medals will be presented for runners.Β Bill Michaels, the Big Unit, will be hosting the event.

For 42 years, St. Benβs Community Meal has provided nourishment and counsel to over 2,000 individuals every week, six days a week.Β Over 75 civic and church groups throughout the Metro Milwaukee area provide and serve the meals.Β Β St. Benβs also provides prevention-focused health care through its clinic, a partner with Columbia St. Mary's.
Since 1968, the House of Peace has been serving Milwaukeeβs central city.Β It provides food, clothing, and pastoral care to the poor plus houses a medical clinic and legal clinic that serves the same population.Β Β
St. Benβs Community Meal and House of Peace are Capuchin ministries and are part of the Province of St. Joseph of the Capuchin Order, which is headquartered in Detroit, and serves Capuchin ministries worldwide.
