Cast 1 Vote for Shorewood Village Board: Avi Zarmi

Cast one vote for Avi Zarmi, for new ideas and experience in the workings of both government and business, and don't vote for either incumbent.

There are three candidates running for the Shorewood Village Board. Two are incumbents, who have not shown that they deserve to continue to serve on the board.

It is time for some new blood and fresh ideas on the Shorewood Village Board, someone who understands both government and business.

I believe that Avi Zarmi can be the shot in the arm that Shorewood needs, and I will only cast a vote for Zarmi and not vote for either of the incumbents.

That will effectively be worth about one and a half votes for Avi Zarmi.

Following below is some information on Mr. Zarmi, which I have been authorized to repost:

Avi Zarmi - Bringing New Ideas and Enthusiasm to the Shorewood Village Board

A Vote for Zarmi is a Vote for Shorewood

By: Jennifer Green

Running a village is a complicated and complex affair. It involves upgrading and maintaining services, financial planning, overseeing employees, negotiating contracts and having a vision for the future.

“Avi’s experience, intelligence, competence and obvious love for the Village of Shorewood really resonates with the voters,” says Mort Becker, the IT coordinator for the Zarmi campaign.

Avi and his wife Arlene (who is ably serving as the campaign’s treasurer) have lived in the village since 1994, over 18 years, giving them the opportunity to carefully observe the rhythm of life in the Village of Shorewood. As Avi eloquently demonstrated in his persuasive performance, at the debate sponsored by the Shorewood Men’s Club, he “really gets it." Avi demonstrated his keen understanding of the many challenges facing the village in these difficult economic times, and proposed solutions that are practical, economical and make sense.

Furthermore, he brings to the table his unique background and experience. A veteran of the army’s intelligence department, he has been a contract manager for missile guidance systems for an international corporation for more than 25 years. With the village doing business with many different contractors for its services, his knowledge and expertise would be a real asset for Shorewood. This is especially true now that the village is embarking on the reconstruction of its infrastructure and specifically the sewer and storm drainage systems, over the next 10 years.

A point that Avi has made repeatedly is that we need to create an environment that will attract young families to the village. This will necessitate an appropriate property assessment system and reconfiguring property taxes to enable older families to be able to sell their homes at a good price, and younger families to buy them.

The campaign has been very technologically advanced using every form of social media including: Facebook, Twitter and a well-designed website, zarmifortrustee.webs.com. Using technology to its fullest will take advantage of Avi’s expertise, and will be an important component of Avi’s tenure as a trustee of the village.

Arlene Becker-Zarmi has noted that the campaign has been flooded with volunteers, offering to host coffees, distribute flyers and post signs in their yards. The excitement of the community to have the opportunity to make real changes, and not just re-elect more of the same style of politicians year after year, is palpable throughout the neighborhood. Many residents have mentioned their dissatisfaction with the current board, and are thrilled that Avi has stepped forward to make their voices heard.

Electing Avi Zarmi will bring new energy, vitality and creative ideas to our community, enabling Shorewood to be an even greater village than it is. Mort encourages everyone to come out and vote this Tuesday April 3, for the candidate who will make a difference — the man who is number one on the ballot — Avi Zarmi for Shorewood Village Trustee.
