Car Stolen From Shorewood Man in Minutes: Police

Police are telling Shorewood residents to avoid leaving their vehicles running and unattended.

SHOREWOOD, WI — Vehicle thefts are continuing in North Shore communities after a Shorewood man had his car stolen in only minutes after he left his car running and unattended, police say.

On Monday, Jan. 29 at about 4:30 p.m., officers from the Shorewood Police Department responded to a vehicle theft in the 4100 Block of N Oakland Ave.

According to police, the driver momentarily left the vehicle running and unattended while he went inside a of a local business. The thief then entered the unlocked vehicle and drove off with the victim’s car.

Shorewood police would like remind everyone not to leave their vehicles running and unattended. It only takes seconds for a thief to enter the vehicle and drive away with it. Authorities are also reminding residents to lock their vehicles any time it is unattended, and to not leave a key (even a “hidden” one) inside of an unattended vehicle.

Shorewood Police say that taking these simple precautions can help greatly reduce and prevent motor vehicle thefts in the area.
