Celebrate a Pink Shabbat!

Enjoy a Pink Shabbat experience to honor family and friends who have battled breast cancer.

Everyone loves Shabbat, the Jewish day of rest. It’s a time spent with family and friends, enjoying delicious festive meals, and taking a brief hiatus from the non-stop whirlwind of our day-to-day lives. What better way to celebrate Shabbat than by supporting a wonderful cause and raising awareness to help friends and family who have battled breast cancer?

Chabad of the East Side is hosting PINK SHABBAT, on Friday, December 5. Pink Shabbat will be an all-pink Shabbat experience to honor friends and family who have joined the battle in the fight to beat breast cancer. Participants will enjoy a gourmet four-course meal, hear a local breast cancer survivor’s journey, and enjoy a warm and wonderful evening in the spirit of Shabbat. PLUS, kids will have a blast at the Shabbat Adventures program, where they will be treated to games, prizes, and fun for everyone!

PINK SHABBAT has been inspired by Sharsheret, and a portion of all proceeds will go to Sharsheret. Sharsheret, which means “chain” in Hebrew, is a not-for-profit organization started by two young Jewish women who had been victims of Breast Cancer. The two were struck by the lack of support for women under 45 with breast cancer, and therefore started Sharsheret. According to their mission statement, Sharsheret is “Dedicated to addressing the unique concerns of young Jewish women facing breast cancer.” A large part of their mission is to promote awareness about this disease.
