Shikha Verma, M.D., joinsRogers Memorial Hospital in West Allis as a staff psychiatrist, working with children and adolescents in the day treatment program and on the inpatientunit.
Actively involved in teaching medical and nursing students as well as residents, Dr. Verma has served in a variety of medical settings, including her most recent position at Milwaukee County Behavioral Health. She is committed to research and continued education. Over the years, Dr. Verma has presented on a number of behavioral health topics including the effects of trauma on childrenβs mental health, medication treatment for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), hair pulling in youth and more.
βIβm interested in providing a holistic approach as I work with kids,β Dr. Verma said. βThere are several dynamics involved. Itβs not just about medication management. Successful treatment involves working with families, schools and physicians to help children transfer their therapeutic skills into their everyday lives.β

A member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Verma is also active with the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Association of Wisconsin. She is also registered with Autism Speaks, an organization dedicated to changing the future for all who struggle with autism spectrum disorders.
Dr. Verma began her medical career at Lady Hardinge Medical College in Delhi, India, followed by residency training at Hennepin-Regions Psychiatry Program in Minnesota. She completed her fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Affiliated Hospitals.
