Driver Who Fled Shorewood Police Struck Tree

As the man was attempting to turn left on the 4100 block of N. Murray Ave., he crashed into a tree, at which point he was arrested.

SHOREWOOD, WI — A Milwaukee man has been charged with fleeing an officer following a July incident in which he reportedly fled police and crashed into a tree.

Tyler McKinney of the 6200 block of W. Medford Ave. has been charged with fleeing and eluding an officer.

According to his criminal complaint, on July 13, a Shorewood police officer observed McKinney's Acura RL sedan pass his location on the 3600 block of N. Oakland Ave.

When the officer attempted to follow McKinney's vehicle, the criminal complaint states McKinney accellerated, ran two red traffic lights before reaching speeds up to 50 miles per hour.

As McKinney was attempting to turn left on the 4100 block of N. Murray Ave., he reportedly crashed into a tree, at which point he was arrested.

He has been ordered into court on Sep. 29.
