Around 3:45 AM, after receiving reports of a vehicle matching its description being seen in the vicinity of several robberies, WFB police pulled over the gold colored Toyota shown in the picture above. The 4 occupants fled the scene. One was apprehended, with the assistance of Glendale’s K-9 unit, behind a home in the 4600 block of Idlewild Ave. The other 3 were still at large as of this posting.
Police from Glendale, Milwaukee, Shorewood, WFB and officers from the Sheriffs Dept. were involved in processing the car at the point where it was abandoned. Apparently a gun was found in a search of the vehicle. I believe someone said that the car was not reported as stolen.
It appears the 4 were involved in a late Friday evening, early Saturday morning crime spree that ranged across 2 or 3 the communities represented by the police forces involved. I think there were known incidents in Shorewood, around Kensington and Oakland, and in Glendale somewhere. No incidents other than the above mentioned happened in WFB. Based on the time and what I could gather about how the car was identified, it sounds like they were looking for unlocked cars and garages to burglarize.

The police apparently were using the term “robbery” so I don’t know if there was some actual strong-arm robbery involved, or not.
