St. Robert Parish is hosting a Centennial Celebration
Concert on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at 1:00 pm in the beautiful setting of St. Robert church, 2212 E. Capitol Drive, Shorewood. The performance will feature
Frank Almond, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster, on a violin by Antonio Stradivari from 1715. Acclaimed pianist Jeannie Yu will accompany. The
concert is free and open to the public. Parking is available behind the church.
Throughout St. Robert Parish’s 100-year history, it has been blessed with talented people who enjoy sharing those talents with others. Almond is a parishioner and school parent at St. Robert. In addition to holding the MSO Concertmaster Chair, he has been Concertmaster of the Rotterdam Philharmonic (Netherlands) and Guest Concertmaster of the London Philharmonic. He performs solo and chamber music throughout the United States and
internationally. He is a member of the Chamber group An die Music in New York City and founded and directs the Frankly Music Chamber Series in Milwaukee. Almond has recorded his work with An Die Music and received Grammy
nominations in 2002 and 2004 for the “Timeless Tales” series. He holds two degrees from the Julliard School and is currently on the faculty of Northwestern University.
St. Robert of Newminster Parish was incorporated in 1912.
Farrell P. Reilly was the founder and first pastor of the new east side parish. For the past 100 years, St. Robert Parish has been a positive presence in Shorewood and throughout the North Shore serving people’s spiritual needs, participating in community outreach, and educating thousands of students at St. Robert School. The Centennial Celebration will culminate on October 14, 2012 with a
special mass celebrated by Milwaukee Archbishop Jerome Listecki.
