Fire Displaces Family of 12; Red Cross Assisting in Any Way Possible

The Red Cross is providing financial assistance for items such as emergency food, shelter and clothing.

MILWAUKEE – A family of 12 people is safe, but without a home after a house fire Sunday left their home un-livable.

Police and fire responded at about 8 p.m. to the scene near N. 48th St. and Hadley St. to battle an active fire on the second floor of the single-family home. the fire was reportedly contained within the walls of the structure, adding to the challenge of battling the blaze.

One person was home at the time and was able to leave the structure safely.

Red Cross Helps Family

The American Red Cross is assisting 12 people – three adults and nine children – after a house fire Sunday on North 48th Street in Milwaukee. The fire left the single-family home unlivable.

The Red Cross is providing financial assistance for items such as emergency food, shelter and clothing.

Local Red Cross worker Bob Wade met with the family to help them begin the recovery process in whatever way the client decides is best. It begins with giving them someone to talk to; help in figuring out what comes next, what community resources are available and immediate funds to help jump=start their recovery.

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of trained volunteers.
