Fire at Milwaukee Messmer Catholic School Forces School Closure Friday
Messmer Catholic School students who arrived to school only to see firefighters working on the building were transported to High School.

MILWAUKEE -- The 2016 -17 school year had only just begun before Messmer Preparatory Catholic School in Milwaukee had to cancel classes on Friday after an early-morning fire.
For students, it means a four-day weekend over the Labor Day holiday weekend.
According to a report by WISN 12, school president Jim Piatt said a staff member arriving for work at about 6:30 a.m. heard the fire alarm and called authorities. Firefighters quickly arrived at the school, located on the 3000 block of North Fratney Street in Milwaukee's Riverwest neighborhood.
