Plenty of articles on it. Β Not even going to bother linking to any.
This is one battleΒ conservatives should stop fighting. Β It really hurts no one, and most polls on itΒ show a dead even or "in favor" outcome.
The timing on this is no accident. Β The State Democratic Convention is in full swingΒ and Mary Burke spoke today. Β There will be an attempt to paint it asΒ evidence of aΒ resurgence in progressivism in WI and a repudiation of Republican/Conservative ideals and, simultaneously, Scott Walker.
Ideally, this would have come about as the result of a poll in the form of a binding, statewide referendum instead of a politically timed judge's ruling - but it didn't. Β Still, the time has come to acknowledge that expanding the rightΒ to legallyΒ marry, along with the otherΒ rights and responsibilitiesΒ that it carries with it, to gay couples isn't a threat to anyone. Β
If gay folks want to settle into a life of "not getting any", far be it from the rest of us to stand in their way.
