"...he's running for President."

The latest, all-purpose rationalization when the left, and others, don't get their way in WI.

The hate and denial will never cease in this state. The guy can win 3 elections, decisively, in 4 years (more than any other Governor has in this state) and still they refuse to accept that he’s doing precisely what he was elected to do.

In the past day, I’ve heard the above excuse uttered by Tony Evers, some retiring assistant dean at UWM and someone representing the Menomonee tribe as the “reason” why Governor Walker was either holding true to his campaign promises or making a decision to protect the interests WI as a whole by making an unpopular decision (and one he probably would have rather not made) due to the conditions set out in an agreement authored by his predecessor.

Part of this has to do with a historic sacred cow (Wisconsin’s public education cabal) that has seen its status as such shaken as it’s forced to come to grips with a changing economy and the 21st century as a whole. No longer can they just submit requests for budget increases and get the expected automatic approval that they got in the past. No longer is it “business as usual” with no accountability or a monopoly on the marketplace for the services they provide.

Not only are they not happy about that, they refuse to accept that the public, as a whole, would actually elect someone who, from the start, has challenged their status and said he was going to shake things up. At first they insisted that he was somehow misleading about his intentions in the run-up to his election and this was the justification (initially, at least, before EVERYTHING became a justification) for his recall. When he survived that, it became that we were all clueless dupes of the Koch Bros., et al, and the money they spent in the recall election (never mind that the Democratic beneficiaries of “Citizen’s United” spent a nearly equal amount) and that, sans that, we would have seen how Scott Walker was “destroying” public education in this state.

That became the battle cry of the natural election that came about 2 years later, where they tried to pass off a silver-spoon princess whose only elected office was to the Madison School Board as a viable candidate for the Governor’s office, only to lose for a third time.

And yet, they still refuse to believe that the electorate in WI really knew what Scott Walker’s intentions truly were, even though they were the ones putting the evil spin on them time after time after time in a very public fashion. At this point, no state governor’s agenda could possibly be more well known or scrutinized more thoroughly than Scott Walker’s - and it hasn’t really changed since day one. And because they’re in complete denial as to how anyone could possibly not want to dump more and more money into a sinking ship or allow for the buildup of monumental cash reserves while at the same time pleading poverty and insisting on tuition increases, they turn to the latest excuse for why Scott Walker’s doing exactly as he has said he would do and not what they want him to do - he’s running for President.

So this is what we’re going to hear, endlessly, between now and 2016. Whenever anyone ends up on the losing end of a Scott Walker decision, regardless of how much sense it makes from the point of view of the state as a whole, it’s going to be because “he’s running for President”.

Looking at a possible budget cut instead of the $98MM increase you thought you were going to get (because you’ve always got them in the past)? It’s because “he’s running for President”.

Incensed that teachers and schools are going to be held accountable for their output and that you’re not allowed to dictate the terms of everything as regards public education in this state anymore (Tony Evers)? Have a hissy fit on WPR and claim it’s because “he’s running for President”.

Don’t get to build your casino in Kenosha because his predecessor bent over for the Forest Potawatomi Tribe? Don’t blame Doyle, blame Walker because “he’s running for President”.

It could be worse for you lefties and other assorted sore losers. He could run - and win. He’s got a history in that regard, as you well know. All your whining and illogical complaining from the day he announced his plans to run for Governor initially, through his subsequent and unprecedented victories contributed to that history in no small way.

Keep up the good work and President Walker may be making your lives miserable for years to come.
