Man Caught With Loaded Gun in Lake Park

Suspect legally bought the gun, but doesn't have a permit to carry it.

A 29-year-old Milwaukee man is facing charges after he was allegedly caught with a loaded handgun inside a car in a park near Shorewood.

Rayshaun Tyree Jackson was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of carrying a concealed weapon. If convicted, he faces up to nine months in prison and $10,000 in fines.

On July 4, Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Deputies were at Lake Park when they decided to search a car driven by another man who was with Jackson. Officers found a loaded gun in the glove box and it was later determined to be Jackson’s.

Jackson bought the gun on Jan. 26, but didn’t have a concealed carry permit to have it with him.

According to court records, Jackson was found guilty of carrying a concealed weapon in 2009 as well and was sentenced to 60 days in the House of Corrections.

He will make his initial appearance in court Aug. 22.
