Jerseys on, bats in hand, and team spirit out for an awesome Stadium Purim party!
This pastΒ Sunday, March 16th, 200 people gathered at The Milwaukee War Memorial Center to celebrate the holiday of Purim. The War Memorial Center, looking more like a ballpark before a game, had hundreds of players, fans, referees, and of course, an assortment of princesses and superheroes milling about. Face painting, Mishloach Manot making, a photo booth, a football toss, and a one-on-one basketball arcade game were just some of the activity stations. Β A full hot dog and burger buffet dinner, plus hot pretzels, a popcorn bar, and fresh cotton candy were enjoyed by all.
The crowd listened to the traditional Megillah reading by the Packers Rabbi, and followed along with an animated slideshow of the Purim story. The energy in the building was infectious and the Purim music had everyone clapping along. The kids took center stage with a grand Purim costume masquerade as they danced for the crowd. The feature entertainment was Comedy Sportz, who kept everyone laughing.Β
Mushka Lein, co-director of Chabad of the East Side said: "Purim is the holiday when we celebrate the triumph of good (Queen Esther) over evil (Haman). The message is relevant and timeless."Β
RabbiΒ Yisroel LeinΒ (The Packers Rabbi), Director of the Chabad of the East Side, said: "The Jewish holidays and traditions are all so rich and fun. Here atΒ Chabad,Β we aim to create a truly enjoyable experience for everyone; one that people of all ages absolutely love and connect to."
