Milwaukee Father Walks into Pond, Kills 3-Month-Old Son: Police

Officers located the unconscious infant within minutes along with fellow first responders but could not save the baby.

MILWAUKEE -- A 3-month-old boy is dead, police say, after the boy's father walked into a pond, resulting in the death of his son.

Milwaukee Police responded to the Harbor Pointe Apartments on Milwaukee's north side just before 9 p.m. Saturday after an eyewitness reported the incident to police.

According to a report from WISN, the father of the infant became involved in a dispute with the mother. The father took the infant from the house and walked into a nearby pond until he was submerged up to his chest.

Harbor Pointe Apartments are surrounded by the Northridge Lakes on all sides. An access road off N. 75th St. allows entry to the apartment complex.

Officers urgently responded to the incident, inadvertently ingesting pond water as they rushed into the water to take the father into custody and locate the baby boy.

According to a report from FOX 6, officers located the unconscious infant within minutes along with fellow first responders and began life-saving measures. Unfortunately the infant was unable to be revived and died at the scene.
