Public Hearing Set On Shorewood 2018 Budget
Shorewood residents will have the chance to deliver their insights and concerns over the Shorewood annual budget at an upcoming meeting.

SHOREWOOD, WI — Shorewood residents will have the chance to deliver their insights and concerns over the Shorewood annual budget at an upcoming Village Board meeting.
On Monday, Nov. 20, 2017 at 7:30 p.m., the board will host a public hearing on the 2018 Proposed Budget. The public hearing will be held at the Shorewood Village Hall, 3930 North Murray Ave.
According to village officials, the proposed 2018 budget continues to bring challenges and opportunities. Staff, with the direction of the Village Board has continued to look for ways to “right‐size” Shorewood's local government, in order to provide the right mix of services for our residents while maintaining a sustainable
improved infrastructure.

According to fiscal estimates provided by the village, the village's portion of a resident's tax bill on a $300,000 home may decrease by $50.98 when the 2018 proposed budget is compared to the 2017 budget.
Alley Reconstruction

The village engineering department is requesting funding for the proposed 2019 alley reconstruction program, including alleys serving:
4500 blocks Woodburn/Morris
4500 blocks Larkin/Newhall
4400 blocks Morris/Larkin
4400 blocks Newhall/Bartlett
1300 block Capitol
4100 block Ardmore/Woodburn
1600 block Newhall/Beverly
Public Works Projects
The Shorewood Village Public Works Department is requesting $2.4 million for 2019 projects included in the village's long-range plan.
The currently anticipated 2019 project implementation needs include:
$750,000 for alley reconstruction
$200,000 for the PPII lateral replacement program
$100,000 for replacement of street lighting control boxes
$365,000 for DPW facilities improvements
$350,000 for Hubbard Park parking lot improvements
$625,000 for renovations of public spaces at the Wilson Drive police facility
Wilson Drive Reconstruction
The Department of Public Works is also requesting $400,000 for a full reconstruction of Wilson Drive. Wilson Drive is scheduled for reconstruction in 2018 and will include enhancements to vehicular, pedestrian and bicycle safety as well as improvements to stormwater management, lighting and landscaping.
