She Wanted Murder Victim To Feel Her Pain

A woman shot her boyfriend in the chest told police she "wanted him to know what her pain felt like when he yells at her."

MILWAUKEE, WI — A 23-year-old Milwaukee woman who shot her boyfriend in the chest told police she "wanted him to know what her pain felt like when he yells at her."

Stephanie Squire, 23, of the 3000 block of N. 40th St. in Milwaukee, was arrested and charged with first degree reckless homicide in the apparent crime.

According to her criminal complaint, on Aug. 23, police traveled to a residence on the 3000 block of N. 40th St. to investigate an apparent fatal shooting that evening.

When officers arrived, police reported seeing the shooting victim lying in a pool of blood with an apparent gunshot wound to his chest. Lifesaving measures were unsuccessful and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body of the man was transported to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's office where an autopsy determined that the man had been fatally shot by a single gunshot wound to the chest and that the manner of death was homicide.

According to Squire's criminal complaint, when speaking with police, she told officers that she and her boyfriend were together in a bedroom discussion personal issues. At one point during the discussion, she told police, her boyfriend picked up a gun and shot himself.

Later, according to her criminal complaint, she told detectives that during the discussion, he was handling his gun and put the gun down as the discussion continued.

According to her criminal complaint, she picked up the gun and pointed it at his chest and pulled the trigger. She told detectives that he was not hitting, choking or threatening her, but pulled the trigger "because she was mad and wanted him to know what her pain felt like when he yells at her."

If she is convicted, she could face up to 40 years behind bars.
