Shorewood Drowning Victim Identified; Memorial Fund Underway
A GoFundMe fundraising effort is underway in memory of the boy, who was a recent 8th grade graduate of Clara Mohammed School.

SHOREWOOD, WI — The 14-year-old boy who drowned at Atwater Beach on Tuesday night has been identified as Sareyi Ahmed of Milwaukee.

According to a FOX 6 NOW article that cites the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's report, Ahmed had been at the beach with several friends that evening, and asked his friends to record him as he jumped into the lake.
According to authorities, North Shore Fire's water rescue team were deployed first into the lake to search for him. Dive teams from the Milwaukee Fire Department, Milwaukee Police Department as well as the U.S. Coast Guard arrived and began their searches for Ahmed.
He was located within several minutes, however life-saving efforts came too late.
