Shorewood Police Help Stop Suicidal Man Upset Over College Plans

Police reported that the man broke a leaded glass window in the home's vestibule and left saying "I guess I'll go kill myself."

SHOREWOOD -- A Whitefish Bay man was stopped by Shorewood and Milwaukee police after he reportedly became suicidal over college plans.

According to a report from the Whitefish Bay police department, officers responded to the 4700 block of N. Larkin St. on Aug. 15 after parent's adult son became upset over college plans in the fall.

Police reported that the man broke a leaded glass window in the home's vestibule and left saying "I guess I'll go kill myself."

When the man's father reached his son by cell phone, he learned that the son was on his way to the Capitol Drive bridge over the Milwaukee River.

The man was found by Shorewood and Milwaukee police at the bridge and was eventually transported by private ambulance to a nearby hospital on a voluntary basis.
