Shorewood's Camp Bar is Expanding

The popular bar is adding space by expanding into a neighboring space, and also into parking spaces - learn how they're going to do it.

SHOREWOOD -- Village officials have given the Camp Bar and Three Lions Pub a boost this week after approving two plans for development.

The village board approved a 40-foot-long parklet for the Camp Bar and also for Three Lions Pub. The parklets will be able to be open from March 15 to November 15, according to new village rules.

What's a parklet?
A parklet is an extension of the sidewalk, typically extending the length of two or three parking space lengths. It combines elements such as seating, small trees, umbrellas, bike parking and fencing depending on what it's used for.
The idea behind the parklet is to provide more space for people to sit and relax - especially where sidewalk space is limited.
Opponents of parklets say the spaces can be duplicated somewhere else and gobble up limited parking places.

More plans for Camp Bar
According to a report by ONMilwaukee, Camp Bar also plans to expand into the space next door to Camp at 4042 N. Oakland Ave. The office space will add about 500 square feet to the bar without a significant build-out. This means the addition of a variety of amenities to the Camp Bar space, including dartboards, shuffleboard and a variety of interactive activities for patrons.
