Third Vaccine Doses Planned At North Shore Health Department
Immunocompromised people can get a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine next week through the North Shore Health Department.

SHOREWOOD, WI — The North Shore Health Department said it has available appointments next week for people that need a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The CDC advises people who are moderate to severely immunocompromised to get a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. That includes, but is not limited to, recent organ transplant patients, people undergoing cancer treatment, people with immunodeficiency, those with untreated or advanced HIV infection or those prescribed drugs such as corticosteroids that may reduce the efficiency of your immune system.

Immunocompromised people are at a higher risk of infection and complications from COVID-19 infection, making the third dose a worthwhile precaution, according to the nation's top disease prevention agency.
At present, a third dose is only an option for people who need it. There are plans to eventually roll out third dose availability for all of America this fall, though, the CDC said on its website. Unless you are immunocompromised, you are not yet eligible for a third dose.
