Water Meter Replacements Begin In Parts Of Shorewood Next Week

Water meters across Shorewood will be replaced through the rest of summer and fall. Work begins next week for some parts of the Village.

SHOREWOOD, WI β€” Water meter replacements will begin for areas north of Capitol Drive and west of Oakland Avenue. Work is expected to last from Aug. 9 to Sept. 17.

Residents in that area may have already received notification from the Village, which began on July 30. Information to confirm appointments with the Village's contractor, Vanguard Utility Systems, is contained within those notices. The work will require contractors to enter residents homes, according to the Village's project website.

The water meter replacement process is mandated by the Wisconsin Public Service Commission to happen every 20 years β€” the last Shorewood replacement was started in 1995.

The new water meters will use an advanced metering infrastructure reading system. This system will monitor water consumption by the hour, and can detect leaks automatically, according to the project website.

Shorewood was split up into three regions for the work. Contractors begin in the northwest part of the village and will then head east, then south.
