Your Cup of Starbucks is Going Up in Price

MILWAUKEE -- There's a good chance the cost of your favorite Starbucks beverage is going up.

Customers will pay 10 cents to 20 cents more for “select sizes” of coffee drinks and 10 cents to 30 cents more for espresso and latte beverages. The price hikes will vary by market, Starbucks said Tuesday.

Just before the price hike was announced by the company, Starbucks announced it would give out raises of at least 5 percent for employees in thousands of stores around the country effective this October.

Starbucks has raised prices on certain beverages by between 5 cents and 20 cents each of the last two years. According to reports, the company on Tuesday said the latest increase was needed for “business needs.”

The announcement was made in a letter to employees from CEO Howard Schultz.
