1. Cycling nonprofit to help connect Superior trails (superiortelegram.com) — Superior officials are weighing an agreement with a cycling nonprofit to fund and help build a 3.3‑mile natural-surface trail linking key parks, schools, and the Municipal Forest, closing a major gap in the city's trail network. The plan would connect neighborhoods, schools, and recreation spots while keeping cyclists off busy streets, with the City Council set to consider the deal soon.
2. Donate Play-Doh for Pediatrics (wdio.com) — You can help brighten hospital stays for local kids by donating Play-Doh at the Superior Government Center's Parks and Recreation office or at Fairlawn Mansion through October 25. Two sisters, including a pediatric staffer at Essentia, are collecting new tubs and Play-Doh toys so children, especially those missing Halloween, always have safe, single-use activities available.
3. Willy Stern's Shtus and Nonsense (duluthreader.com) — A new autobiographical book, "Shtus and Nonsense," by Lake Nebagamon author and veteran journalist Willy Stern is now available at Foxes and Fireflies Bookstore in Superior. The compact collection of humorous and reflective life vignettes ranges from camp days and global reporting assignments to family stories, inviting readers to find joy and meaning in everyday moments.
4. UWS women's soccer downs Martin Luther 4-1 (northernnewsnow.com) — UW–Superior soccer fans saw a strong home performance as the Yellowjacket women beat Martin Luther 4–1, with Claire Loria scoring the opening goal after sustained early pressure. The men's team followed with an 11–0 rout, marking their third shutout in four games and giving Superior supporters plenty to cheer about.
