Willow Springs Learning CenterWillow Springs 4K students and staff will honor veterans Nov. 11 during classroom assemblies. Children will watch a slideshow and sing songs about veterans with their buddy class. Students are invited to wear red, white and blue for the program.

Lannon Elementary School, 7145 N. Lannon Rd., LannonVeterans are invited to attend a small walking parade of gratitude at Lannon Elementary School onNov. 11. Sign-in begins at 10 a.m., parade at 10:30 a.m. The walking parade will take place either onthe playground or through the school hallways, weather depending. Family members are welcome toaccompany veterans. Please note that masks are strongly recommended per Hamilton School DistrictCovid-19 protocol.

Silver Spring Intermediate School and Templeton Middle School, N58 W22350 Silver Spring Dr. andN59 W22490 Silver Spring Dr., SussexSilver Spring Intermediate and Templeton Middle School will host a drive-through parade Nov. 11 from9:15-9:45 a.m. to honor the service of veterans. Local veterans and those related to students or staffare welcome.

Veterans are encouraged to decorate their vehicles and include a sign with their name, branch andstudents they know. Family members assisting veterans with driving are welcome.

Students and staff dressed in patriotic colors will line the parade route with flags, signs, banners andpoppies. Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts will post the colors at the start of the parade and the Templetonband will play patriotic music at the round-about between the schools.

The parade route will begin at Halquist Sport Complex located on Town Line Rd. The parade willproceed past Silver Spring and Templeton. The Maple Avenue Elementary School parade will follow at10 a.m. Veteran families and friends are encouraged to attend both parades. Maple Avenue Elementary School, W240 N6059 Maple Avenue, SussexLocal veterans and those related to students or staff are invited to attend the Maple Avenue Elementary School drive-through parade Nov. 11 from 10-10:15 a.m.

Veterans are encouraged to decorate their vehicles and include a sign with their name, branch andstudents they know. Family members assisting veterans with driving are welcome.

Marcy Elementary SchoolMarcy Elementary School will celebrate Veterans Day Nov. 11 with a video assembly. The video willinclude all of the important components of past in-person assemblies.

  • A slideshow with pictures of veterans who are relatives of Marcy students will be shared with students throughout the week;
  • a fourth grade Boy Scout troop will present the colors in a video; and
  • a variety of fourth grade students will explain how respect is shown to veterans.

Video clips of area veterans will include comments about their branch of service as well as highlights ofwhat they learned in the service.

Woodside Elementary SchoolDuring November Woodside Elementary School students and staff will create a Woodside Honor Wall to honorveterans and current members of the U.S. Armed Forces. The wall will display photos, names, branches of serviceand names of students or staff members who are honoring them.

Woodside students will wear red, white and blue Nov. 11 in honor of Veterans Day.

First grade students will perform a Veterans Day Concert Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. at the Hamilton Fine ArtsCenter. During the concert veterans will be asked to stand when the song from their branch of serviceis played.

The food drive that is normally conducted during the Veterans Day music program will not take place.Woodside families are encouraged to donate funds directly to the Sussex Area Food Pantry.

Hamilton High SchoolA commemorative passage that honors the brave service men and women will be read about thehistorical significance of Veterans Day. A moment of silence will be observed.
