A 28-year-old Sussex man is facing charges after he drove drunk at nearly 100 miles per hour through Butler, and then had to be shocked twice with a Taser before he could be brought into custody.

A Butler police officer spotted Kalupa driving 98 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour speed zone Sunday near West Arden Place and 127th Street. The officer pulled Kalupa over, who then tried getting out of the car and was told to show his hands to the officer, but refused.
The officer then ordered him out of the car, but Kalupa refused, began making grunting noises and started rocking in the driver’s seat. A Brookfield police officer then arrived at the scene to help get him out of the car, but Kalupa immediately grabbed onto the door frame and began pulling himself in the opposite direction.

Eventually the officers were able to get him out of the car, but Kalupa continued to resist and had to be stunned with a Taser twice.
He told the officer he had three “Korbels” before driving but refused to take a field sobriety test and refused to blow into a Breathalyzer even after he agreed to take that test.
He will make his initial appearance in court Thursday.
