Sussex Spared in Tuesday Storms

No reports of major damages or power outages in the village Wednesday.

Despite reports of widespread flooding, downed trees and power outages across the metro Milwaukee area, Sussex residents appear to have escaped relatively unscathed.

Village Administrator Jeremy Smith said there haven’t been any reports of major damage in the village due to the storms and anything that may have happened is only minor.

“We really didn’t have that type of damage here,” he said.

According to We Energies website, as of 10 a.m. Wednesday there are no reported power outages in the village. Spokesman Brian Manthey said he was unable to find out if residents had lost power since storms rolled in last night, but there were most likely a few.

Bill Stolte, coordinator of the Waukesha County Department of Emergency Management, said there were no reports of major damage or flooding in the village.

The Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs reported Wedensday the Town of Eagle, Nashotah, Summit and Dousman were the hardest hit areas by winds from the storms, with officials reporting straight line wind speeds of more than 100 miles per hour.

More than 27,000 Waukesha County residents lost power and estimated private sector damage is at $302,454.
